4WD Snorkel Manufacturer: Top 10 Rankings in a Competitive Niche
Client: Steel manufacturer, 4WD snorkels (anonymous) | Services: Keyword research, technical SEO, link building | Result: Collection pages in the top 10, and organic traffic peaking at around 440 visits a month
A steel manufacturing company that makes and sells 4WD snorkels partnered with Technical Content Links to improve its organic visibility. The product category is highly technical and competitive, and the goal was to get its collection pages in front of buyers who were ready to purchase.
At a glance
- Industry: Automotive aftermarket, 4WD parts and accessories (ecommerce)
- Engagement: White label SEO and link building, from January 2024
- Period shown: October 2022 to July 2024
- Headline results: collection pages reached the top 10 within the first months; average organic traffic rose from about 290 visits a month when the campaign began to a peak of around 440 in April 2024, and held at about 380 in July 2024
The challenge
4WD aftermarket parts is a crowded niche. Established brands already ranked well for the core commercial terms, and buyers searching for a snorkel for their specific vehicle tend to compare options before they buy.
The client’s collection pages needed to compete directly with category leaders for those high-intent searches. That meant matching the way buyers actually search, and building enough authority to rank against bigger, older sites.
Our approach
Onboarding and strategy. Keyword research and mapping to how buyers search for this product category, a full manual technical audit, a content audit and a documented strategy.
The big-ticket items in the first months:
- A new site navigation structure and new category pages built around the keyword mapping
- New homepage content with FAQs
- Metadata optimisation across the product pages
- Google Business Profile optimisation
- A Search Console audit and fixes, including pages blocked by robots.txt, redirect mapping, 301 redirects and indexing requests
- A schema markup audit
Then consistency. Every month the campaign added guest post links to the homepage, directory and social profile links, and new category descriptions.
The results
The collection pages climbed into the top 10 search results within the first months of the campaign.
Organic traffic followed. From about 290 visits a month when the campaign began in January 2024, average organic traffic climbed to a peak of around 440 in April 2024 and held at about 380 a month in July 2024. For a specialist product with a small, high-intent search audience, that translated into a significant increase in both enquiries and sales.
