Personal Injury Law Firm: Record Organic Traffic, Lower PPC Reliance
Client: Personal injury law firm (anonymous) | Services: White label local SEO, on-page optimisation, content, link building | Result: 20,620 monthly organic visits and $101,487 in monthly traffic value by July 2024
A personal injury law firm partnered with Technical Content Links to build its organic search presence. It had been relying heavily on Google Ads for new client enquiries, and it needed organic search to carry more of the load without lead volume dropping.
At a glance
- Industry: Legal, personal injury
- Engagement: White label SEO, from July 2023
- Main growth period: late 2023 to July 2024
- Headline results (July 2024): 20,620 average monthly organic visits, an estimated $101,487 a month in organic traffic value, 600 referring domains, Domain Rating 41
The challenge
Personal injury law is one of the most competitive and expensive categories in paid search, and cost-per-click routinely runs into double figures. Every new enquiry from ads cost the firm more as competition rose, so growth was tied directly to ad spend.
The firm needed an acquisition channel that wouldn’t scale in cost with every extra lead. It also needed that channel to perform in its own service areas, where its prospective clients actually search.
Our approach
Onboarding and strategy. Keyword research and mapping, a full manual technical audit, a content audit and a documented strategy.
The big-ticket items in the first six months:
- Fixing duplicate and badly sized metadata across the site
- A Search Console audit and fixes, redirect mapping and 301 redirects, and repairs to broken internal links
- Noindex directives for low-value pages, an XML sitemap clean-up and a new HTML sitemap
- Google Business Profile optimisation across the firm’s office locations
- New homepage content with FAQs, plus FAQ research and internal linking from FAQ answers to practice area pages
- New and rewritten practice area pages for WorkCover, transport accident claims and public liability
- Location pages for regional offices, a schema audit, a blog audit and goal tracking fixes
Then consistency. Every month the campaign added guest post and directory links, alongside new practice area and location content, with a six-month campaign review and technical audit to set the next priorities.
The results
Organic performance was close to flat for several years before the campaign. Once the work took hold, organic traffic, traffic value and referring domains all climbed sharply from late 2023. By July 2024 the site was averaging 20,620 organic visits a month, worth an estimated $101,487 a month at equivalent paid search prices. Its link profile reached 600 referring domains, with a Domain Rating of 41.
That growth gave the firm a record high in organic traffic. The extra local visibility turned into more local client enquiries, and the firm was able to reduce its reliance on paid search without losing lead volume.
Figures are from Ahrefs organic estimates, July 2024. Traffic value is Ahrefs’ estimate of what the same organic traffic would cost in paid search.
