Miami Tour Operator: 8x More Top-5 Rankings Over Five Years
Client: Miami tour operator (anonymous) | Services: Technical SEO, content, link building, migration SEO | Result: Top-5 keywords up from 123 to 1,025, and top-10 keywords up from 312 to 1,422
A Miami tour and transport operator, selling day trips to Key West and the Everglades and ferry trips to the Bahamas, partnered with Technical Content Links in November 2020 through a tourism marketing agency partner. The campaign ran for more than five years.
At a glance
- Industry: Travel and tourism, tours and transport (US)
- Engagement: White label SEO, November 2020 to March 2026
- Starting point (November 2020): 123 keywords in Google’s top five and 312 in the top 10
- Results: 1,025 top-five keywords and 1,422 top-10 keywords at peak (January 2026); average organic traffic of 4,449 visits a month in 2024, against 2,124 in 2021
The challenge
Tour operators compete with online travel agencies and booking platforms for every search, and demand swings with the seasons. The client needed its own site to rank for the day trips and routes that drive bookings: Key West day trips, Everglades airboat tours, snorkelling trips and ferries to the Bahamas.
Our approach
Audits and strategy. A full site audit, backlink and competitor analysis, keyword research and mapping, a Search Console audit and an analytics review, with clear goals for each priority tour.
The big-ticket items:
- Sitewide schema markup, 301 redirects and fixes to internal links pointing at redirected URLs
- Keyword-led metadata and H1s, and removal of duplicate headings
- New category pages and destination content, later including Miami attractions and neighbourhood pages
- Post-migration audits after site rebuilds, and pre- and post-migration audits again in 2025
- Noindex directives, broken link fixes and XML sitemap clean-ups
- Tour descriptions with FAQs, a keyword cannibalisation review of the blog, and refreshes of year-specific articles
- Most recently, a content calendar focused on searches that don’t trigger AI Overviews
Then consistency. Month after month the campaign added guest post links to the homepage and key destination pages such as Key West, the Everglades, the Bahamas and Miami attractions, alongside new blog content, with six-monthly strategy reviews and technical audits.
The results
- Rankings: keywords in Google’s top five grew from 123 to 1,025, more than eight times as many. Keywords in the top 10 grew from 312 to 1,422.
- Traffic: average organic traffic grew from 2,124 visits a month in 2021 to 4,449 in 2024. Traffic dipped through the 2025 site migration and had recovered to an average of 4,056 a month by early 2026.
- Bookings-focused wins: in 2022, the Bahamas destination page became the site’s top organic landing page, with searches such as “miami bahamas” and “fort lauderdale to key west ferry” ranking in position two.
Ranking and traffic figures are estimates from SE Ranking (US search database). Monthly report details are from the campaign’s own reporting.
